Privacy Policy
Last updated October 18, 2026
RadioRelay helps fire departments and their members follow their radio traffic: it plays department radio channels live, transcribes them, turns dispatches into incident cards, and gives each department a group chat. This policy explains what information RadioRelay handles, why, who helps us process it, and the choices you have. It applies to the RadioRelay apps for iPhone, iPad and Android and to radiorelay.app.
Information you give us
- Account details: your name, email address and password. Passwords are handled by our sign-in provider and stored only in hashed form; we never see them.
- Profile photo, if you add one.
- What you post in group chat: messages, photos, audio files, PDFs, GIFs you pick, and reactions.
- Responding: when you tap Responding on an incident, your name is shown to your group and read aloud in their notification.
- Reports: if you report a message, your report and a copy of that message.
Information collected as you use RadioRelay
- Push notification token for your device, so alerts reach you.
- Settings: which relays and alerts you follow, muted groups, and people you’ve blocked.
- Usage analytics in the mobile app, described below.
- Notification delivery: our server records when an AI summary or a Responding alert with audio was sent to you.
- Website analytics: radiorelay.app uses only Vercel Analytics, which counts page views without cookies or cross-site tracking.
We do not collect your device’s location, your contacts, or advertising identifiers. RadioRelay has no ads and does not sell or share your personal information for advertising.
Usage analytics in the app
The RadioRelay app sends usage analytics to PostHog (PostHog Cloud, hosted in the United States) so we can see which features people use and fix what isn’t working. This includes:
- Feature use: which features you use and for how long, such as live listening, recordings played, the feed and group chat.
- App opens.
- Device and app details: operating system, app version and device model.
- Session replay: a recording of how screens are used, such as taps and scrolling. All text and images are hidden in the recording, so it doesn’t show messages, names, transcripts or photos.
This data is linked to your account: your name, email address and account ID. It is used only to understand and improve RadioRelay, not to track you across other apps or websites.
To turn it off, go to Profile and switch off Share usage analytics. Your choice is saved on your account, so it follows you if you sign in on a new phone. Some activity before you sign in, such as opening the app, may be collected before you can turn this off.
Radio traffic
RadioRelay records public-safety radio channels that a department’s relay receives, then transcribes and summarizes them. These transmissions can mention addresses, the nature of an emergency, and the people involved. Recordings, transcripts and incident summaries are available to members of the departments and groups that follow that relay. Incident addresses come from the radio traffic, not from your device.
How we use information
- To run RadioRelay: sign-in, feeds, live listening, incident cards, group chat and notifications.
- To show the right content to the right people, based on your department and groups.
- To keep RadioRelay safe: reviewing reports, removing content that breaks the rules, and enforcing blocks.
- To keep it working: fixing problems and making alerts reliable.
- To improve it: understanding which features are used, through usage analytics you can turn off.
Who processes information for us
We use service providers that process information only to provide their service to RadioRelay:
- Supabase — database, sign-in and file storage.
- PostHog — usage analytics and session replay in the app (hosted in the US).
- Render and Vercel — hosting for our servers and website.
- Google Firebase Cloud Messaging and Apple Push Notification service — delivering notifications.
- AssemblyAI — transcribing radio audio.
- Anthropic — summarizing radio transcripts into incident cards.
- Cartesia — reading alerts aloud (text to speech), including names in “is responding” alerts.
- Google Maps Platform and Mapbox — Street View images, maps and directions for incident addresses.
- GIPHY — GIF search. Your search words are sent to GIPHY.
- Resend — sending email, such as group invitations.
We share information with others only when the law requires it, to protect people’s safety, or as part of a business transfer, in which case this policy continues to apply.
Who can see what
Your name and profile photo are visible to members of groups you belong to. Messages you post are visible to members of that group. Group administrators can remove messages and members.
How long we keep it
We keep your account information and usage analytics until you delete your account. Radio recordings, transcripts and incident records are kept while the department uses RadioRelay. Reports are kept for moderation records.
Your choices
- Edit your profile — change your name or photo in the app under Profile.
- Usage analytics — turn off Profile → Share usage analytics.
- Notifications — choose which alerts you get, mute groups, or turn notifications off in your device settings.
- Block people — press and hold a message in group chat. Manage blocks under Profile → Blocked people.
- Delete your account — in the app under Profile → Delete account, or see Delete your account. This deletes your profile, photo, memberships, chat messages and attachments, settings, and your usage analytics and session replays in PostHog.
